the book that i read!
The first book that I read while working is "Madonna in a Fur Coat." I found out about it through Twitter — Street said it was good. AND THEY WERE RIGHT! It was freaking gooddddd :( I shed tears while reading it... just a little tho, not like wailing hh 😭 but it really left something in me and has been stuck in my mind ever since. Actually, the story is pretty predictable, BUT THE WRITING?? CHEF KISS 👩🏻🍳💋 — deep, romantic, melancholic... it matches so well with me. With the person I am.
I hope I can find someone who has the same taste as me too... so he can understand me well... hm.
The second book that I finished is "Convenience Store Woman" by Sayaka Murata. It was a good book — a memorable book. I think the fact that I still remember the story until now means it really was a good book, right? The story follows a woman who's different — odd — in society's eyes. She tries hard to fit in, but in the end, she chooses to stay in her comfort zone, even if people think it's weird.
The third one is "Almond" by Sohn Won Pyung — I found it from Kim Taeri's recommended books thread on Twitter. When I read it, I kept picturing it like a Korean drama in my head. It was a good book too... because it didn't bore me? hh. Almond is also about odd people — a boy who cannot feel emotions at all.
The fourth book... I forgot the title again... but I remember I liked it... OH! It's "Days at the Morisaki Bookshop" by Satoshi Yagisawa. It was a comfort book. The story is simple, but I liked it! And surprisingly, it didn't bore me at all even though the plot was light.
The fifth one... I'm not sure if I've finished it or not... It's "Dallergut Dream Department Store" by Miye Lee. The story is exactly like the title — it's about dreams! It made me think about how dreams reflect who we really are. It's a pretty good book too, and while reading it, I kept thinking about how creative the author is. How could she create a world like this? How could she imagine all of these characters and details?
OH YEAH! Did I forget to tell you about "Your Personality Tree" by Florence Littauer? I got to know it from Mb F. It was a good book — kind of like those blood type or zodiac personality books — but the difference is, we are the ones who decide who we really are. It's different from blood type or zodiac, right? Those are something that decides itself.
What really amazed me about this book is how the problems or cases mentioned are so similar to problems these days, even though the book itself was written a long time ago. It made me realize that humans throughout time are all the same.
